Cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End

Charlie Jaggard and his ‘Get Well Mel’ team made up of family and friends cycled almost 1000 miles last August and raised £50,000 to find a cure for the very rare form of cancer that afflicts his wife Mel.  Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma is a cancer that is only diagnosed in 20 people a year.

So successful was the ‘LEJOG’ that Charlie is replicating his journey, but this time travelling against the wind from John O’Groats to Land’s End.  He will be cycling with a team of seven others for the whole journey while many other members of family and friends will be joining him for certain legs.  The hope is to raise the same amount again and really kickstart research into this rare cancer.

Charlie’s fundraising has been given an extra impetus by the fact that Mel recently became pregnant with twins!  With their new arrivals due in October, they really are going to have their hands full.  Charlie and Mel are busy being interviewed by many local and national press organisations – you may have recently seen them on ITV Wales, or read about them in the South Wales Argus, Western Mail or Sunday Express.  Links to these are available below.

You can sponsor the team via the justgiving page (www.justgiving.com/end2end4acc) and you can follow their progress on their website: www.end2end4acc.co.uk.  If you have arrived here as a result of some of the publicity and would like to help, you can sponsor Team Mel by sending £5 via text.  Every single penny will go to the ACC fund: simply text ACCX11 £5 to 70070.
